A sports team is a well structured business – from the highest paidplayer on the team to the amount of hotdogs sold during a game.Everything works together to keep fans coming, keeps fans happy, andkeeps fans purchasing stadium items and of course, tickets.
But what about the promotional sports merchandise?
This is a wonderful marketing tool that can be beneficial while stayingcost efficient. More importantly, all the items will portray the sportslogo and nothing says marketing like seeing the logo over and over.
These supporter items come with many choices.
Many families and sports fans will plan their attendance around thenights they receive free items. What this in turn does is put morepeople in seats and those people will be thirsty, hungry, etc.
The first example of these items are the noise makers.
These are itemssuch as hand clapper, mini horns, thunder sticks, fan speakers,inflatable megaphones, and the boogie blaster. There’s nothing quitelike sitting at a packed home game cheering the teams on with some realnoise. And nothing seals the deal of a great memory like an item to take home… and each time the fan sees that item they think of how great thegame was – the experience, seeing their favorite players, etc. And thatin return helps bring that fan back.
Another example of promotional items are flyers, helmets, balloons,wavers, capes, and banners. These items again scream support for thehome team. A final example would be the items that can be used again. Examples include car banners, scarves, and even beach balls.
A banner that can be placed in a vehicle is one of the best forms ofadvertising. It’s the kind that shows a happy customer promoting theproduct or brand which in this is the sports team. It can also serve as a friendly reminder to someone by saying, “hey, there’s a local sportsteam… you should see them…”
The same could be suggested for the scarves and beach balls.
Promotional items cost money up front and are generally given out per so many thousand or per age. For example, balloon night for children sixand under. Other items such as banners would be geared towards adults.With children items, remember that for each child that attends, a parent will be with them. That’s two tickets for one promo item.
While there are many types of items that can help the brand in different ways, the bottom line is that with the logo on the item and the item in the fans’ hands, it shows that the fan paid to see the event andnothing in advertising is better than word of mouth.
